Thanks for the advice, I've tried that. My life is so stressful that just shear will power is not going to work. When I was pregnant with my children (2) I would get sick everytime I smelled a cigarette, lit or not. After the kids were born the craving came back. The only way I'll ever stop is to absolutely be sick to smell them. Must have been a hormone thing. I'll keep looking for help, thank you for your advice & have a great day! ~linda~
Glad to hear from ya! Once I had made my mind up I told a friend who was very supportive of my decision. He had quit a number of years earlier so he knew what it was all about. He told me to give him a call everytime I wanted a cigarette. I thought he was crazy but I told him I would. I did ok on my own the first two days. On the third day the craving really hit. I looked around for my wifes smokes and found them. I took one out and went for the lighter which was right next to my phone. I picked up the phone and the lighter and went outside. I sat on the step and called my friend. I told him where my head was at and he just talked to me. Encouraged me to put the smoke down and talked until the craving passed. I couldn't believe it worked. We did this repeatedly until the craving and urges went away. Lasted about three weeks. Every now and then I still get an urge but it passes pretty quick. It been about 3 1/2 yrs since I had to smoke. No patch, no gum. Just a friend and a phone. I hope this helps.
So, how did you stop smoking?
I don't know if there is a pill or not, however, I'm a former smoker and I understand stopping can be tough. If you're interested to learn how I was able to stop please don't hesitate to ask. Good Luck!!!
