just stop smoking 1 day and the next day and so on.
It worked for me.
If you cant do that just go out in such an area where you cant smoke.
Well that's the best incentive for quitting! Good for you!
Hi
I'm new here.. I was also into smoking for 8 years but I am very glad that I got over it. I thought I could never get through it. When I was in first high my friends invited me into a party,(college friends) I'm not used to go with guys my age. hehe.. I got drunk and they let me smoke a pack of cigarettes. I didnt know how i did it all i did was suck it all up! until it became a habit. Every time I finished up my meal, I always wanted to smoke. I started quitting when my mom decided to take me to a film school. I was also interested in Filming so I focused more on my studies. I know it's really hard for me but all i did was stay in my room and bought a lot of gum! hehe... it's that simple. (not that simple really) My girlfriend hates to kiss me every time I smoke. I'm into kissing. hehehe.. That's why I opened up to my girlfriend that I wanted to quit. So she bought me a bag of bubble gums and she decided to move in with me so I wont be going out and see other smokers. hehehe... That's how it ended. hehe.. thanks.. ^_^
Kathyjo is right...good advice..also remember you have to be ready to quit. its quite a ride i'll tell ya, first few months will be the hardest but trust me you will feel so much better. I havent had a cigarette in a year and sometimes its still a struggle for me. Whatever you do when you quit..do not pick up another cigarette. whyquit.com is definitly a site i go on till this day...great site. My opinion quit Cold Turkey, but if something else works for you than good for you...hope all goes well

You have made the right decision. This is something you will have to do some research on, but if you want do it cold turkey, then there is an excellent site that will help you to help yourself. It is whyquit.com and even if you chose to use a "stop smoking aid", you will learn a lot by reading the articles in Joel's Library.
It's not going to be easy, addiction is never easy to kick, but preparing yourself and knowing what to expect....educating yourself with the why's, these are all steps in the right direction.
When you have read and understand all the traps you will face, then just do it and never smoke again.....take control and never give in to those urges.....there will be plenty, but if you distract yourself long enough, the urges will pass. Stay away from smokers for a while, if you can.
Good luck and keep us posted. We are here to support you : )
