I'm simply trying to stop smoking...2nd day...it's rough....2 questions...

1) How do you know when those fake electronic digs are "done" and are they bad for you?

2) Do you have any other tips or advice or encouragement to get me through this initial stage. My goal is to never smoke another cig again. Ever. It's going to be rough.

First off, I'm sorry, I didn't quite understand you are on day 2?  Are you using the E-cig, still?  If you are, you might want to rethink that since by using it you're holding on to the addictive behavior that comes with smoking and that's the hardest part to let go of.  Many of us on this forum have found whyquit.com to be helpful.  Give it a read and see what you think.

Good Luck to you!

Amen Teko...every quit is so different and everyone one brings on a new affirmation!!
Good for you girl to join our exclusive club....even if you can't post for awhile we'll just know you are working through all this, remember your not alone.
Dayman.....spend alot of time the first while in bed with the covers over your head!...works for me, other than that each and everytime the 'urge' pops into my mind, I quickly jump up and do something to take my mind in another direction...of course I usually pop something into my mouth too, like a gum or peppermint or even a toothpick...something to control that oral fixation devil....good luck. you can do this!
(Jade I love this....)

That's right, Teko.  That's the secret - never pick up another cigarette under Any circumstances.  We are done with all that!  The End!  I couldn't post about it either right away..or even Close to those first few months.  It made me think about it too much.  As soon as I stopped making a big deal about it is when I was successful.  A few practice quits helped too, lol.  Good job on Day3, Teko!

At the end of 72 hours, your body will be nicotine free. Different things work for different people, but fruit juice, cutting the caffeine, and for me personally, reading works. I reach my 72 hrs at 9pm tonite. From then on it will simply be making sure I do not pick up another cigarette under any circumstances and deal with it as it comes. As you can tell I have been there, done that. Now Im back and for the last darn time too. So I refuse to think all that much on it, and probably will not dwell on it by posting about it either. It is now time for survival techniques. Good luck on your journey. Each quit is different I have learned and hopefully, I will not get the anxiety but if I do, this time I will go to the doctor and get something for it.

If its the blu's the light flashes on the front when the battery runs low and once the filter thing is done it just tastes like nothing... I'm doing the patch(week 8) which is a longer process but I don't have the anxiety like when I tried to go cold turkey. The things that have helped me and I have quit smoking multiple times, is you got to break the routine. Its not so much that nicotine is that strong, its that habits are very strong, so if you use to smoke in the car, chew gum in the car. If you would smoke in your house get another treat that will satisfy the oral fixation. Also, the coolest thing I learned is that a craving only last like 5 seconds or something like that. So I just kept busy, reading the news(as dull and sad as it can be) offers a variety of stories and keeps your mind focused on something. Best of luck! Also, I would put a big sign on your mirror that says "I'm a non smoker". But I'm also kind of a guy that needs motivational stuff.

Your best bet is to go total cold turkey, drink lots of water, and eat healthy. Also get some fruit juice and drink it. It helps with the blood sugar issues. Something with nictotine messes your sugar up. Within 3 days the physical is over. The mental is a lot longer.
