Im am 18 years old and i have been smoking since i was 16 and i smoke at least a pack a day. I really want to quit but i always tell myself im going to quit on this day or next week or after this weekend but i never get around to it. I dont think i will be able to quit cold turkey because theres 2 others in my household that smoke. I am concerned about take a nicotine patches and gum because of the possibilitys. My question is what is the best and safest way to quit for my age?

I would say cold turkey would be okay as you only smoked a few years.  I smoked 35 years, attempted quitting 15 times, and only 2xs tried cold turkey and was smoking again by day 2 it was horrilbe for me, and what is funny is that as I aged and quit som many times, I was down to only 7 cigs a day for the past 3 years.  believe it or not, it is not how many cigs you smoked, it is more like how long, and how strong you can be to fight the physical, mental, emotional, situational, it is all involved with smoking,  so the longer you smoked the harder because life revolves around them.  I use the nicotrol inhaler, still do from time to time, after 6 weeks, cuz When I start thinking about a cig I go nuts, I miss them so much mentally.  thinking about lighting, puffing, blowing it out, relaxing. ugggggh.  it can really be more mentally damaging than anything, especially if  u have any kind of mental illnesses, it is almost impossible, but not completely.  I say if someone does not want to put a cig in there mouth then do whatever u need to to not do that.  If nicotine replacement helps go for it.  The emotional, almost never goes away.  someday, you may just be sitting there and crave one, not physically, mentally.  so cold turkey people, still light up as much as people who use nrt.  horrible physical and emotional addiction, as i am writing this I want one.

The best way, in my opinion, would be cold turkey. It is going to be more difficult for you as there are other smokers in the home so maybe they could support you in your quit by going outside to smoke.
There is a great website, whyquit.com that has a lot of great articles. Put the smokes down, read the articles and have a great support system who are ready to help you. We are a good source here so if you need us, just post : )

Good luck to you!
