I love whyquit.com also.  It really helped me quit the first time... I went 3 1/2 years then started again like a huge loser.  I have a story about it, but basically I some rolling tobacco found it's way into my hands while I was camping on my birthday and I thought it would be fun to smoke just one!!!!  Wrong.  So whyquit has a no relapse policy but I can still read posts on the site and they have a wealth of info to read even without joining the site.

Anyway I think cold turkey is the best way too.  Get the nicotine out as quick as possible and gut your way through the first few days, it gets much easier in two weeks.

I'm quitting today also!  I have one cigarette left which I will smoke on the way to work.  I've started and stopped a couple of times in the last month or so but I am ready mentally.  I've got my snacks, my water and juice to keep my blood sugar from crashing.  I also made a list of my reasons for quitting which I carry with me and I carry a little medallion in my pocket which symbolizes my main reason for quitting.  When I have the urge I take out my list or my medallion and take a walk.

ladyrhea4 gave you the secret to quitting.  Just make up your mind and do it!  Make your mind up that you are not going to smoke and nothing, not emotions, not stress, not anything will make you smoke because nicotine has all sorts of mind tricks up it's sleeve, but you be smarter!

I am also a cold turkey quitter.  It's the best way for Me.  The nicotine will be out of your system in 72hrs, then the hard part will begin, but if you're determined, you'll succeed.  Make yourself a tracker to be accountable to yourself.  Just viewing the quit days racking up will be motivation in itself.

Many of us on this forum have found whyquit.com to be educational and beneficial so just a suggestion for you to check out.

Best of luck to you!!!

You can do it...and this is a Great place to find people for the support you will need. I stopped smoking after way to long because of having Cancer not once but two times. So the 2nd time around I made up my mind that I did not need to make the Cancer come back again. So I have been clean of it for over a year and a half.
And honest I always saw myself as a smoker, I never ever wanted to stop smoking but I think once you make up your Mind You can do it......

Take care and I'm around if you want to talk..
