I've heard of nicotine affecting the ability to maintain an erection.  I don't know a lot about it but I live in Canada and all of the cigarette packaging here comes with big warnings on it and one of them is, "Smoking causes impotence".

I have never heard of nicotine making you impotent. Nicotine has a short half life - about two hours. You can do the math from there.
