quit smoking for good

hello everyone, i have a quick question, i will start off with my smokers history. I smoked for 1 year and 8 months, the max was 4 cigerettes a day, through out that time i switched from camels, marlboro, menthol, and also lights.
I quit about 4 months ago, but all 4 months i have been having alot of mucus/phlem in my throat. everyday since may till now, september, i have to hock out the mucus because it builds up in my throat and gets annoying. there isnt blood and some times it is white with yellow, but mostly always white, i also get mild chest pains and headaches, what could this be? could it be serious?
also i smoked weed from time to time in that time period, i also quit that though, i have major anxiety that i have something bad. please help.

While kathyjo is right - you should make an appt with your dr to make sure nothing serious is wrong - I can totally relate to what you're saying.  I too, quit 4 1/2 months ago and the congestion and mucus is still with me and gathering in my throat just as you describe as well as some wheezing.  Feels like my sinuses are draining, in fact, I know they are.  You may have a sinus infection.  A benedryl as well as a decongestant tablet help quite a bit and dry up the drainage temporarily.

Congratulations on your 4months quit!  Hang in there.  It'll get better :)

I doubt very seriously that smoking could be causing your issues given your brief history. I think that you should make an appointemnt with your doctor and get yourself checked out. May be allergies?
Good luck!
