day 5 no cigs

and I really don't think of smoking all that much. I am taking Chantix and for me its awesome...takes away my desire for a puff. Not 100% but so much that i no longer obsess over smoking.

I've changed some smoking habits...when i take the dog outside in the morning, i have my coffee instead of a cig, on the way to work I drink out of my bottle of water, instead of lighting up...at work, I eat an apple, take a walk, or brush my teeth when my 'smoke time' comes...

so far things have been going well...and its only been 5 days, but i can already take a deeper breath!

I quit with Chantix and I felt the same way you do : ) I couldn't imagine how anyone would choose any other way to quit but when I joined up here and saw that there were many who had some pretty bad side effects, well thats when I counted myself very lucky. I think most of the complaints were not too bad; nighmares and stomach problems.

Make sure that you are mentally prepared before getting off the chantix. Spend a little time on the whyquit.com website and try to understand why you became addicted. It really is more an emotional one then a physical one. Read the articles under "Education" and it will really help you should you get a crave.

Congrats to you and if you need support, we are here ; )

Hello and congratulations on your quit!  Right on!  I will also congratulate you on your first quit as I took a peek at your profile.  Wow, you're a brand new member and all settled in, I see :)  You will like it here at MedHelp :)

I do hope the Chantix continues to work well for you.  It seems to affect people differently, but it sounds like you are having no problems so that's great.  Changing up your habits is another good thing and de...(ugh, the dog next door is barking and distracting me)...defininitely the place to start.

Good luck and we're here for you!!
