To prepare yourself for a quit you should read the articles at whyquit.com
Look under the column "Education." The key to quitting is to learn why you smoke. Most of us are more emotionally addicted then physically. The w/d last about 72 hours but it's the other aspect that keeps us craving.
I found it easier when I understood the "WHY" and only then I could fight it. Most of us think that smoking magically calm out nerves and helps the anxieties.....wrong. It's a learned behavior and because we taught ourselves to reach when stress happens, we automatically associate cancer sticks as a calming thing : (
When you unlearn this bad behavior, you have a good chance at suceeding in your quit.
When you are ready, come by the smoking addiction forum where you will find a great support system.
Good luck!
Thx guys I'm really am ready. I did quit for 2.5 year. Stopped right way when I found out god had blessed me with my son. I nursed him till he was 15mon never touched one. I did pick it back up. Okay so ''c-r-a-p'' is a bad word?? lol.
How long have you been clean? try not to do too much at once or you could be setting yourself up for a fall. we are only human so take it slow ok? I found the patch really helped me. I quit during both my pregnancies using the patch. I wish I hadn't started again after giving birth but I feel good knowing my babies grew inside me without nicotine and all the other **** going into their systems. Now I'm going to get off oxys and once I've been clean for at least a few months I'll quit smoking. i wouldn't dream of doing both at the same time.
But if you think you are ready, try the patch, it makes those wd's easier to handle. But please wait if you've just quit other drugs. Doing too much too soon can result in relapse but hats off to you for wanting to do it.
