Rehab

Hi ,
My wife has been in hospital since May 11.Complained of headaches on Sat 10th May and was rushed to the hospital within 2 hours .CT scan and angigram revealed an Aneurysm . Clipping of Aneurysm to the right side was done on Sunday 11 th . 3o hour operation.
She has been in ICU for the last 16 days. She opens her eyes ,recongises most of the family and friends She is now able to speak very softly and started to eat on her own although not very much at this stage. She remembers a lot of Bible verse that she had memorises previously and speaks of wanting to tell us where she had been all this while.
She was not able to move her left ar and feet but now is able to move them with a little difficulty. She obeys commands and understand what is being said.
She has been agigated a lot wanting to come home but the last 2 days she has bewcome very quiet. Looks very depressed.

A Rehab specialist asssessed her today and confirmed that she is a suitable candidate for rehab the only problem being that there is a waiting period of six weeks. She is going to be moved to the general ward tomorrow and I am vey concerned that this may depress her more.
Are the any other alternates to consider e.g Taking her home and getting a nurse to treat her at home or taking her to an outpatients for treatment.
I am in South Africa and the only rehab close to me is the one that has a long waiting list and I feel that her condition will deteriorate in hospital as ther eis nothing more they can do but monitor her condition every 4 hours.
Please help!!!

Hello Dear,
You need not worry, just take care that her sugar levels are maintained. Her diet should be taken care of and extra carbohydrates should be avoided. The medication should be continued regularly.

Thank you very much for you comment.I am trying to find someone that can help.
I have found out today that my wife needs to have Insulin to control her sugar. What i am concerned about is that she did not have a problem with sugar before.

Hello Dear,
God has been really kind and great.
You can take your wife home and a 24 hour care taker is needed for her.If there is a long waiting in physical therapy clinic, you should look for doctor who can give home visit for physiotherapy. She needs good rehabilitation and attention of the family members. An occupational therapist will also be helpful in making her learn the daily activities.
