My therapist just doesn't understand or take me seriously

Okay well yesterday I had my second session with my therapist and I told her about how I always feel lonely and how i'm sad all the time and all she did was tell me to write my feelings down and she mentioned something about swimming being good for mental health. I went agaisnt my gut and went anyway and she just made me feel like an idiot, i've already booked another season and i'm suposed to bring in a sheet with my thoughts of when i'm sad in for her to read. I just feel like she doesnt understand and it made me so angry I felt like crying at the end of the session.

Ir's a great advantage to have a good rapport with your therapist, or anyone else that's treating you for anything. Otherwise there will be a reduced benefit. My guess is that she's trying to get something on paper to work with & make you confront whatever it is that's depressing you. Do  as she suggests, make notes, it costs you nothing & could be the key to getting you out of being sad. 'perhaps you don't give the appearance of being sad?'

be open and honest with your therapist. Tell her that you'd like to try a different route with therapy.

I'm going to find another therapist. But until then I will just try and be more open with the one I have right now.
Thank you for your replies

Ok i've had therapists/councellors that made me feel as though i was making stuff up, or they weren't taking me seriously or the things that were out of my control were my fault my advice is if she is making you feel that way DO NOT GO BACK it is not worth your time FIND SOMEONE ELSE who will actually help you and not make you feel that way if she is making you feel that way she is not doing her job!

find another therapist! if she makes you feel worse that is not going to help. sometimes when you get into the heart of the pain it can cause you to feel uneasy until you work through it but if she makes you feel like an idiot that's not good. if you don't want to change maybe talk to her/him and explain how you are feeling and if she is a good therapist she will understand and come from a different angle and make you feel more comfortable.

Therapist are there to help you. if shes not then something needs to change.
Good luck
