recurring depression or is it bipolar?

I'm a male & I'm 14 in a couple of weeks but I keep getting into a really down mood. I went to see my school councillor about it a couple of months ago and it really helped but every now & then (mainly at night when I'm alone) I keep getting into this depressive mood, but when I'm not in this mood, I'm really happy & hyper. Sometimes I might post something on facebook & my family keep asking what's wrong but then I just feel like getting into a really angry mood, even if my mum says or asks me a really small thing I just shout at her & keep getting into arguments with her (its really hard to because I'm an only child & I've never met my father). I dont want to go to my friends about it anymore because I feel like they will hate me & I just keep nagging at them, but I don't want to go to a councillor because I feel like I'm wasting their time because its only a few nights a week

Sounds like recurring depression.  Being happy and hyper aren't signs of bipolar disorder.  There'd have to be other things like rapid speech, racing thoughts, being able to function on little sleep without feeling tired and not just function but also have an overabundance of energy, etc., eating too much/too little, etc., that last for a certain period of time for the "Hyper" to qualify as mania.

It could be your hormones are to blame at the moment.  The teenage years are tough because of all the changes going on in your body.  Either way, you sound like you're experiencing some depressive symptoms.

Definitely talk to your counselor.  You're not wasting the person's time; that's what the counselor's job is and why the counselor's there!  If it helps you, do it.  Also, try journaling, avoid isolating yourself, etc.

Being almost 14, seems like your teenage hormones are kicking in hey;)

When I was 14 I used to get really angry and depressed at the smallest things! I used to see a counciller and it sort of helped me, but then once i stopped i just got depressed again.

Talking to people, including your friends and mum can actually be really beneficial for you! Trust me, it makes your feel alot better, even seem embarrasssing but it's worth a shot?

If you want to talk about anything just give me a message!

If you ever want someone to talk to, I'm here :)
Firstly, councillors are there to help.  Don't feel like your wasting their time. :)
Do you have a journal where you can write down your feelings?  Or someplace you can sit down and calm yourself?
