Is it depression?/?/

Im a 13 guy and don't know what to do with pretty much anything. I dont know why either, it could be any of the thousands of things that bother me. My looks, my friends, my family, socializing, workloads, finding a girlfriend. It all *****. I wind up just tearing unexpectedly and for short periods just hating anything that moved. My friends never help, they mainly just put me down. Sleepless nights are continuous.Therapist after therapist will never help either, no one can ever get to what i really think, though i wish they could. Periods of time go by when different feelings get stronger and lower, so do thoughts of ending it all though i know i never will. People may care if im gone, but for how long, everyone treats me like **** anyway and thinks there is nothing wrong with me. I am judged for anything i do and most likely screamed at for it. I am not a bad student and dont give any signs of remorse and dont even talk for that matter. No courage or self-esteem to talk to girls or make some better friends can also screw you up. Every second something inside me hurts. I hate it, i truly hate it. I dont know how to help myself and was thinking of taking a shot in the dark and puttinng my problem up here. Plz help........

Hello,
This is for all of you. (Please read: Trying to share things I've learned about struggling with depression.)

I have been through this my whole life. I still fight it. It's not easy, but you know what? You become a stronger person for it - you become a survivor. And that's a skill that's gonna get you through the rest of your life.
I've suffered from depression since childhood. And I can share a few facts I learned: -Don't think that "the right person" is going to "fix" how you feel. They won't, and can't. When you are confident in who YOU are, the right people will come your way. And so will the wrong ones - but because you are stronger when you know how to stand on your own two feet, you won't crash and burn when it happens.
-The Doctors/psychologists/psychiatrists CAN help - be there are a lot of horrible ones out there too. And if you do go the medication route - it unfortunately can take years to find the right one. I've been on seven, but this one finally works!
-If your friend put you down, don't waste your time with them. It's not worth it. Good friends, the ones you keep for life - those are the friendships you should focus on. If they can't help you, they will be there to listen. And you will do the same for them.
-The "Easy way out," suicide of course, is just that: it's the cheap way, the cheaters way to go. You're failing yourself and everyone that cares about you!! And there is at least someone out there that cares, even if they're showing it in a really strange way, like yelling at you. And if you happen to believe in Karma, it means you have to overcome the same challenge in the next life anyway.
-Don't hide it or keep it quiet. You'd be surprised who's gonna step up to help when they know what's going on. And it hurts more when you keep it inside, it will eat you up. Talking about it does help.
-Relationships in high school are just for practice. Don't worry about it too much (although i know that sounds easier than it actually is). But think of high school as a little bubble - when you get out, there's a whole world full of interesting people to meet!! And it takes a few ups and downs to learn about what works for you in a relationship. VERY few couple from highs school end up married in the long run anyway.
***Ok, this one is important: Your brain is lying to you. Don't listen to it!! Depression is the misfiring of synapses in your brain causing a "short circuit" (sometimes caused by a chemical imbalance, triggering event, etc. etc.) - but literally thought patterns that go around in circles. Cognitive Therapy can help you recognize when the Depression is talking, and can help you re-wire your brain. (Search Neuroplasticity for more how the re-wiring works. There's a good documentary called "Changing your Mind" on The Nature of Things.) The best part is you can do Cognitive Therapy exercises on your own! There's a great book called "The Feeling Good Book" by Dr. Burns. It's available almost everywhere and only costs about $10. Worth the read. If nothing else, will help you understand the nature of depression better.

Please, please ask me anything! I'm here to talk. And If you've found this helpful at all, let me know and I'll post it somewhere in the forum so everyone can take a look :)

Hang in there - You are NOT ALONE!!! Never forget that. :)
Best Wishes to you all!!!
