i think I have depression

I am sixteen and for the last months I have been very upset over pointless things, I cry and do not know the reason and when things have gone wrong over the last few months I have turned to selfharm as a way of punishing myself for the pain I have caused others and when i am not able to self harm for what ever reason Iturn to alcohol. I know ddepression runs through my family but I am scared of going to the gp.

Hi.
I went through something very similar as what you described and it sounds to me like you got alot on your plate, here are some things that helped me get through my depression
1. Write whats upsetting/bothering you on a piece of paper... hold that in your head for five seconds then grab a pen a stab the hell outta it.
2. Try using ice and rubber bands around your wrist instead of cutting, if that doesn't help try putting salt on before the ice.
3. talk to some who you know will not judge or discuss your problems.
4. go somewhere that makes you happy or you have fond memories of like a park, church or your old school and when you feel safe just talk to yourself, you will subcosiously sort it out for yourself, (I have done this many times and still do but to some people I looked abit crazy so it's best to do it when no-ones around)
You can always talk to me:)
Hope it helps!
