I'm so sorry, V. I think it has to do with the whole thyroid thing. Think being without just weakens your immune system drastically. My belief anyway. I personally think this is something else the drs don't really know about. If you think about it most of us are a really unhealthy lot and it all started with thyroid disease.
My parents and a lot of other ppl they know swear by liquid elderberry juice with ester-C. They take it at the first sign of a cold or anything and swear by it. Now I did this for a while and it really seemed to work pretty well. That's before I kept getting more and more wrong with me.
It's also in with the supplements. I get mine at Wal-Mart.
Hope you get better soon. Oh, and don't forget the allergy meds! Couldn't live without my Zyrtec!
Dac
Honestly, I haven't had RAI yet and I've been sick all winter. It's my daughter's first winter in daycare and it's been a particularly brutal cold/flu season in New England. I got literally every single cold that she got from school. I even had a flu shot this year, but still got about 8 colds from November to April. It was annoying to say the least! I eat healthy, practice yoga and do the Airborne/Emergen-C thing, but still got sick 8 times. Go figure!
My mothers doctor told her that I should expect to have a weakened immune system at first. I started eating like 2 oranges a day and really, it did help kick the cold that would not go away and I have not been sick since. Taking a supplement will not be as affective actually eating the vitamin C. Just my 2 cents.
Sorry V - God these cold are just knocking you down.
I did do some reading in getting these colds. You know, I work with 500 kids at a school and I think I have controlled my colds pretty well again. Germs are all over my work - and we all hate to be sick - so I followed two things and so far (knock on wood) I seem to do well.
Take 2000mgVitamin C w/ rose hips. Get the very best vit - with a good absorb. Try to eliminate the ones with fillers as much as possible. GNC store brand. I take "solgar" .
I also started the Walgreen's brand of "air bourne" too. I don't know if I need it - but I was only sick once. It was a doosie - but I haven't had one since.
Take care :)
