2029 FDA reclassification of desiccated pig thyroid

Hello, I have not been here since I think,.. it looks like 2019?  Looks like there’s a few people here they remember, Barb and Gimel.

I see they never improved the forum layout ,..that’s kind of why I left.

Anyway, this post is about what the title says. The only place I’ve seen this mentioned is on Mary Shamon’s (spelling) website.

Has anyone made a post about this yet? I don’t even know how you would stroll through this forum  to see if somebody has.

Apparently, armor or the company who owns them whoever it is, is going through the process with the FDA to get this re-classified. It’s got some special technical word as well technically not be a medicine. So it will cost more. That’s the big problem it might cost so much that people actually can’t afford it. I don’t know what I’m going to do maybe order Erfa from Canada again? Or try synthetic T4 along with a compounded, slow release T3? Regular Cytomel T3 that I tried in the past is just too quick acting. It felt more like an illegal, drug narcotic, etc..

Good comments on the first one above this.

I forgot how to make "hotlinks" work. Please fix my two links if possible.

If you know or post  any other good thyroid sites (I dont), please spread this information. 2029 is not far away.

Hey Moose - long time no see.  No, the site format hasn't changed since you were here.  The current format is the "new" way they intended it to be, so according to MH it is the "improved" version.   It took some getting used to because it's different from what we were used to but it's not difficult.

"Strolling" through the forum is simply a matter of scrolling down the page to view the various threads that have been posted.

All that said, in answer to your question, I haven't seen anything about FDA reclassifying desiccated hormones.  After reading your post, I did find the following article, dated September 29, 2022 and wonder if this is what you're referring to:  https://a4pc.org/2022-09/fda-uses-back-door-to-restrict-dte-compounding/

I haven't found anything else and apparently, no one has had issues getting the desiccated hormones, as of this time.   Although I was on them for a short period, I could never get the doctor to increase the dosage enough to do any good, so I went back to Levoxyl and generic T3.

I've never tried compounded T3, but over the years, we've had a few people on it.   Most of them did not do well, because they were only prescribed it once/day and it was designed to be taken twice/day.  You might want to check into that prior to starting it.

I'll keep researching and see if I can find more regarding the desiccated hormone issue.  Thank you for the alert.

Many comments on the UK site.

Here is Mary Shomon's site info:

Please make these two "hotlinks" if you can, I forgot how.

Help spread the word if you are active on any other thyroid site forum/ or facebook.

thanks
