3 year old and thyroid issues?

We were told my grandson who just turned three this month is having thyroid issues and was put on pedisure.  They said it could clear up in a months time.  My grandson doesn't live with his mother and the paternal grandparents have played head games with her many times over so am needing some insight on this to make sure that this isn't possibly another one.  They were not told to go see an endocrinologist.  They were just told to put him on pediasure and it could clear up in a month.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Just "reading between the lines here"

"thyroid problem" ....is your grandson overweight??? if so it sounds like they are placing him on a liquid diet and that is dangerous to a small child. If they are blaming his weight problem on a phanton "thyroid issue" then the real issue (bad diet/improper nutrition) is not being addressed.

If hes a fence post, then they maybe buffing up his diet to bulk him up.

peace be the journey

From my limited knowledge, PediaSure will do nothing for a thyroid problem.  PediaSure is just a supplement that is full of nutrients, like a vitamin.  Adults can drink Ensure if they're having problems eating regularly.  PediaLyte is for children who are having digestive problems (like vomiting and diarreha)  and need to stay hydrated (like Gatorade for adults).  PediaSure is available over the counter.  A thyroid problem would have to be diagnosed with a blood test.  What type of thyroid problem did the doctor say he had?
