600mg/day or 10 grains/day of Armour. Any thoughts?

600mg/day or 10 grains/day of Armour.   This is what I am taking and my TSH level has dropped from 36 to 6.  I have developed problems controlling blood pressure and have developed diastolic dysfunction and have an enlarged left atrium.  Thoughts?

Three grains of Armour is about 180mg.

That is the equivelent of 300mcg of synthroid.

If you are taking ten grains of Armour, that is the equivelent of 1,000mcg of synthroid.

The average thyroid patient with NO THYROID needs between 100mcg and 250mcg of Synthroid to control their hormone level.

Unless you weigh 600 pounds, you are taking 4-10 times as much medication as you should need. That is very serious.

How long have you been on that dosage?
How often are you getting your blood tested?
If this has been going on for some time, what does your doctor say? Have you been doing this for months and 6.0 is as low as your TSH will go?

Did you get a copy of your TSH and other lab valuess? If not, I would recommend that you do and now that medhelp has added the tracker, it is a great place to keep up with all of that.

Take care.
