Did you receive my PM with the doctor's names?
Thanks still trying to find a doctor.
Sorry, your profile page says you're form FL.
I have a few names in NC. I'm going to send you a PM with those. Just go to the top of the page and click on your Inbox under My Medhelp.
It might be a good idea to have TPOab tested, then. I notice the TGab result you posted above you noted was about a year ago. Typically, both are tested at once.
Goolara. I can't find that test anywhere. I don't know if I have taken it.
I'm looking for the labs now. I have so many.
I live in charlotte nc
I just saw that you'd posted a TGab result, but no TPOab result. I was just wondering if that had ever been tested because many more of us with Hashi's are TPOab positive than TGab positive.
Can I help explain everything further? Ask questions; I'll answer.
Where in FL are you? One of our members keeps a list of doctors recommended by forum members. I'll see if there's anyone in your area on the list.
Thanks for replying Goolara. I left my doctor office today and tears. I asked him to test my Frees and adrenals and he said no further test are needed and I'm not hypo anymore. When I first got diagnosed, I was tested for hashi's and it was negative, I can't find the labs at the moment. I'm sorry, but understanding the ranges are difficult for me. He also stated that my anemia was tested fine now, so don't worry about it. I really want to get the ranges, but I don't. I walked out on my doctor because he said I was mental instead and I won't go back. Thing is I can't find a doctor.
Your FT4 is 0.97 (0.8-1.8), which means that it's at 17% of range. Many of us find that we will still have hypo symptoms until FT4 is about 50% of range (sometimes higher).
Unfortunately, your doctor ran total T3, which is not nearly as useful as free T3. Your TT3 is at 25% of range, and the rule of thumb for FT3 is upper half (50+%) to upper third (67+%). So that is very low as well.
TSH is the least important of the tests. AACE recommended many years ago that TSH range be adjusted to 0.3-3.0. Using that much more reasonable range, it's on the high side.
I notice you posted a TGab result, but no TPOab. TPOab is the primary marker for Hashi's. Has no one ever tested that?
Considering your symptoms, I really think you'd feel better on meds. Thyroid test ranges are very flawed for a number of reasons, so the whole bottom half of both FT3 and FT4 ranges (where you currently reside) should probably be considered hypo.
Of course, vitamin and mineral deficiencies don't help anything. If adequate iron levels are not present in cells, thyroid hormones can't be absorbed. So, I hope you and your doctor are working on your anemia. The same is true for vitamin D levels. Once again, understand that just being in range on any of these tests isn't always enough...you have to be well up in the ranges on some.
T3 total 80.0- 204.0 (110.4) t4 0.80-1.80. (0.97). Tsh 0.350-4.50 ( 2.423) my numbers are in the parenthesis. This was taken one week ago.
I was on 50 mcg when first diagnosed forever. Then 75 mcg and last year i was briefly put on 88 mg and then on Np thyroid 30 mg. I was on meds on all labs. Except for the one in the first pic. I have new labs but I'm at work, will post later. They were taken last Wednesday.
Were you on meds when either of these was drawn?
Did they test thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOab) as well as TGab?
How much levo had you been taking?
Hi, Goolarra. I have a bunch of labs those are just the most recent.
Thyroglobulin Ab <40.0 U/mL <20.0 - this was almost a year ago.
These are labs when I first got diagnosed. FREE T-3 2.3 - 4.2 pg/mL (2.6)
Free T4 by Dialysis/Mass Spec 0.80 - 1.80 ng/dL (1.09)
T4, Total 5.0 - 12.5 ug/dL 9.4
T3 Uptake Ratio 22.5 - 37.0 % 35.4
TSH 0.350 - 4.50 uIU/mL 6.055
Free T4 by Dialysis/Mass Spec 0.80 - 1.80 ng/dL 1.14 these are 9 months ago.
If your doctor is only testing TSH, you will be miserable forever. FREE T3 and FREE T4 should be tested every time labs are drawn. If you have those numbers, please post them with the reference ranges from your own lab report.
If vitamins and minerals are low, thyroid hormones cannot get into cells, where they have to be to do their job. So, even with adequate blood levels of FT3 and FT4 you will feel hypo because the hormones can't get into cells. The usual suspects are vitamin D and iron/ferritin. How are you supplementing?
How much levo were you on prior to discontinuing?
Do you know what the cause of your hypothyroidism is? Have you ever had antibody tests to see if you have Hashimoto's thyroiditis?
