Armour Thyroid reformulated a second time?

I have a doctor who believes in Armour but not in Erfa. She claims all of her patients who have tried Erfa have been unhappy with it and wanted to go back to Armour. She told me to chew the pills up and I'd be fine.

That worked with the 30, 60, 90 and 120 mg pills, but not with the 240 mg pills. They turn into a woody pulp in my mouth and leave me seriously hypothyroid. So I don't know if I should try to get the pharmacy to order some Erfa instead next time I get a prescription for Armour? However, I am a bit wary of Erfa after reading quite a few negative reviews about it...it seems that sometimes it's no better than sugar pills.

I understand some take cellulase (like Candex) with Armour to help break down cellulose. Does that work, or would it be better to switch to an NDT drug not containing cellulose?

Also, is it true that Armour was reformulated a second time in 2010 and has not been as bad since? If that's indeed the case, my problem could be that I have Armour manufactured back in 2009. I don't know for how long it's good, but my bottles all have 03/2013 as date of expiry. Could they be from the original, bad (reformulated) batch manufactured in early 2009? It seems four years is an awfully long time for NDT drugs to stay good, but thyroxine pills are good for up to four years from the date of manufacture so I can not rule that out...

Some say that the lower strengths were reformulated but not the other ones. That could explain why I do better on 2x120 mg of Armour than on one pill of 240 mg...but it's really confusing! Why would Forest reformulate some strengths and not all?!

The real question is if you seem to think there is a positive difference in the smaller Armour sizes vs the huge (uncommon) 240mg tablet, then just take two of the 120mg.

Most people feel better if the take dessicated two or even three times per day vs all at once, and take a lot more per day than 90% of the people on dessicated.

If you can take the smaller tablets of Armour sublingually like the origional Armour, current Erfa and Acella NP, then food and snack do not interfere with the absorbing properties. On erfa, I've lab tested taking the same dose sublingually vs oral ingesting and sublingual gave a slightly higher free T4 but the same free T3 (T3 is higher on dessicated anyway) , so this was very positive. I graze all day long, so taking thyroid sublingual is great for me.

Were all different. I dont know were your reading negative feed back about Erfa. Its essentially almost the same as original amour (dextrose as a filler). It absorbs well with this filler and can be taken sublinguly with ease. Ive used five different manufactures of dessicated and ERFA seems to work the best for me. The one I have not tried is Acella NP Thyroid- if I was to change that would be the one I'd try, and like Erfa, it has no cellulose. But unlike Erfa ,NP is made in the USA, not in Canada. US pharmacies can not get Erfa, its mail ordered with a script from your Dr.

Armour changed again? Stop the thyroid madness website seems to think so, but its just an opinion so far I think. I did not know they made a 240mg - that a lot.
