That is what the oncologist is saying.  The thyroid and nodes are positive on the PET scan.  When my thyroid was killed, there was no mention of cancer, merely hyperthyroid.  I do not understand how I could have update on scan.  There was nothing to scan.  I am totally confused.

Sorry, I can't tell you anything about masses on your spine.

If your thyroid was removed, how could it come up on a scan?  Are they saying it grew back?

My thyroid was removed and I had radioactive iodine treatment 30 years ago. I have been on synthroid since.  Recently, I had a PET scan.  Once completed, I was told my thyroid and nodes came up.  At present, I am told I may have myeloma.  In a CT scan, masses were seen at my spine.  According to the Doctor, the masses are of no concern because they were not "hot".  I am experiencing horrendous pain  in my back.  Now, I was wondering if the masses in my spine should be overlooked because they did not uptake on the PET. Can you help??

Did you have any thyroid tests done, such as TSH, Free T3 and Free T4?  If so, please post results and reference ranges, which vary lab to lab.

Hypothyroidism, pernicious anaemia/megablastic anaemias and liver disease are conditions that show up often with these labs. Hypothyroidism - high MCH, low glucose, increased basophils; Pernicious anaemia/megablastic anaemias - high MCH, high LDH; Liver disease - high MCH, high LDH, low glucose. There are many other causes. If you want to post more indepth let me know. :)
