I had blood drawn this a.m. and I won't have results until at least Tues. p.m. My endo wants to
remove my thyroid. I am not sure this is the answer. He says it would be simple, just take a pill once a day. How do I know this is the right thing to do? Removal is the greatest fear for me.
I am afraid of how my body will react to this. Can anyone tell me if they felt better after removing their thyroid? I would hate to do this an things just go haywire.

Your TSH is in the normal range and your T4 is high in the range, but if that's Total T4, it doesn't really mean much because it doesn't tell you how much is actually available to be converted to T3. Additionally, you need a Free T3 test as that is the active thyroid hormone and without knowing your levels, it's impossible to comment fully.
You also need to have the antibody tests (TPOab and TGab) to find out if you have an autoimmune disease.
My Mother was on Thyroxine for 27 years for Hypothyroid, then all of a sudden her thyroid started working, she has now been off meds for 20 years..I dont think anyone can say no unless you have the gland out or it is not functioning from the Autoimmune disease Hashi/graves..My doc said i wont be like my mother as Hashi destroyed mine..Dawn
Can't remember the previous scores sorry...Can one completely recover from this and may be stop taking medication...or is it for life...
Thank you for your comments much appreciated.
Sorry I forgot to mention the range..TSH 2.25(.027-4.20), T4 20.1(12.0-22.0), they haven';t tested for freeT4 + free T3....
Hair loss seems to be the major issue...

First of all, I don't know what your TSH or T4 was before you started Thyro.
Second, I don't know your lab ranges for T4. Many endos test FreeT4, plus FreeT3, as they've found them to be more reliable in indicating what the thyroid is doing.
Your TSH is mildly elevated.
How do you feel? Still hypo? Dry skin, fatigue, constipation, hair loss, depression?
That's the best indicator.
