Hypothyroid - want to have a baby

Hi all,

I am 28 years married women.  i am suffering from hypothyroid since pas 4 years.
I never took my medicines regularly.

Now since past 4 months regularly taking medinces. thyronorm 100mcg

Recently i tested my thyroid, now i have gone in to hyperthyroid.
My test results are :
TPO - >1300
TSH - 0.09
T4 - 17.00
T3 - 1.32

Now i have reduced the amount of medinice which i was taking

I want to have a baby, but my doctors suggest me to not have now.

Please suggest me, what precaution do i need to take.

Thanks,
Shilpa

Hi,

The risk is more for being hypo (and not properly medicated) than being hyperthyroid (slightly high).

Anyhow, please post the reference ranges for your results.

Target to get pregnant would be to have TSH around 1.0.  But more importantly FT3 and FT4 should be in the upper half of the reference range.  if you get pregnant you will need to be tested regularly to make sure your levels are optimal.

Would only take a few monthsto get your levels  optimal and then surely you can try for your baby.

I agree with your doctors. You need to regulate your hormones longer than that. If you do not, you will have a child who is mentally handicapped. Moms who carry during times of hypothyroid run a higher risk of disabled children (mentally handicapped.)
