I had a post several months ago that here in the USA, many people were suspecting identical reduced effectiveness with Armour. with a lot of people complaining that they had to have an increased dosage where they had been stable for many years. But similarly I think it coincided with the Armour company being merged or bought out by another company.
My post didn't generate any confirmation of this. But did also coincide with my wife getting more fatigued etc and she did end up getting a higher dosage. But not sure if it was due to any change.
I find it intersting that more and more "problems" are being seen in NDT medications and dosages. At least anecdotally.
Also I am on Synthroid and I repeatedly have to get only partial filling of my prescription because I guess the pharmacy doesn't have enough supply. My wife on Armour has had this happen to her a few times too.
So is it just the phramcy or is there some sort of supply or production of thyroid meds going on????
Are these shortages and anecdotal changes of effectiveness going on across North America? And if so WHY?
Yes those are the visual differences I can see from new vs old. I always save some old stock- and taking it now.
I think I will change to Acella NP and its made in USA. $30 cash three months from walgreens,
Target, cvs are $80, wierd.
I found an article from June 2014 - Part II: Erfa Canada says new thyroid pills are fine: Thyroid Patients worldwide exclaim HOG WASH!!...this is an excerpt...
"You stated in your announcement: There was no difference in concentration from one batch to the other. We did not change our formulation, suppliers nor our manufacturing technique. What is missing from that statement is that you have, in fact, stated to others than Erfa Thyroid did change the facility in which the pills are made. And as far as the “manufacturing technique”…patients clearly see a difference in the “new” batches. They are now slightly shinier, the indentations are deeper, and the new pills have a blotchy look that wasn’t there before.
The photo above shows the difference between the old and new.
Of course, we don’t know if what we are observing in the new pills explains anything. All patients DO know is that all-too-many of them are seeing their hypothyroidism return with the new Erfa Thyroid."
