Can I stop the shakes?

Recently (just over 4 weeks ago) I was diganoises hyperthyroid.  Blood tests came back with high T3 and T4 and almost undectable TSH.  I am waiting to see a specialist (Internist) before treatment to see what is causing it.

When I first went to be chacked (7 weeks ago) I was feeling okay, just dropping weight and heart palpitations.  Now I am getting the shakes and having a harder time staying asleep.  I feel weak and am tired after doing household chores.  I get hot and flushed and my menstural period has stopped.  I have also notice that my fingernails are breaking and peeling.  I feel anxious and am constantly worring that there may be more to this, not just my thyroid.  I was stupid enough to read too much about it and see that autoimmune diseases are related (don't even know if I have Grave's).  This worring is driving me crazy!  From what I understand it is most likey my thyroid that is causing me to be so on edge.

Any suggestions on what to do until I see the specialist?  It could be a while before I get in.  And then I will have to have tests and wait and see.

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism 2 weeks ago and I'm already  taking medication for the thyroid and  palpitations.  My test results were:
Total t3      492    range 70-190
Free t4       4.1     range 07-1.61
TSH          0.00    range 0.34-4.82
Go with your Physician, he/she will start with medicine first.

I'd call your primary care physician and let him know your symptoms are getting worse.  There are blood tests to test for the antibodies that cause Graves, at the very least, he/she could order up those tests so that you don't have to wait even longer once you do see an internist.

Hyperthyroidism is nothing to mess around with - I ignored my symptoms for several months and was very lucky I didn't have a thyroid storm (very serious - if your symptoms suddnely worsen, especially with a very rapid heartbeat, you might consider going to an emergency room).

I hate it when "waiting" is what you are told to do when you feel like ****.  I'd be a pain in the scheduler's side, call often and ask if there are cancelations, maybe you can get in earlier.

Good luck to you.
