I am hypothyroid, it started off as severe, my tsh was 80.5, its down to 10 now, both my t3 and t4 are within range.125mcg of synthroid, I dont feel too much better, but I dont look like I am dying anymore. Hashimoto's runs in my family, every female on my mothers side has it.
I fought to get on Armour and doing much better.
I was on both. I would ask for a detailed report of your blood tests and post them here. If your free T3 is low, and your free T4 high, you might have a problem converting your own T4 into T3. If this is the case, then you might benefit from a dual regimen.
If not, don't bother. It will just make you feel like you can never go to sleep. And then never be able to wake up on any normal schedule. My endos first script, was for T3 & T4 after my TT and RAI for cancer . I eliminated the T3 about 3 months ago, to try and convert my own as we had not tried that yet - my insistance! And believe me, feeling that way all the time was no way to live your life. It was great at night, but in the morning I felt like I'd party'd like a rockstar all night, and there was no getting me up. Or like I was on a different universe's time clock where the days should be longer than they are in the "real" world.
What meds are you on now? You don't post your dx. Do you still have your thyroid? Any endocrinologist worth their salt should treat the numbers as well as the way you are feeling. But get the test results and talk to the doc about the Free T3 and Free T4 ratios. It would not make sense to treat you with T3 if you are making enough of your own.
