Confusing lab tests....

Hi all! I recently received a copy of my lab tests and I am confused as to what they indicate. My TSH is 5.71 (reference range .40-4.5), FT4 is 1.1 (reference range 0.8-1.8), and FT3 is 4.9 (reference range 1.8-4.6). I am currently taking Synthroid 25 mcg daily (for 10 weeks). I'm still having multiple hypothyroid symptoms, but wondering what is causing the elevated FT3...any input is appreciated! Any ideas?
Thanks so much!
Chelle

I've never seen any info suggesting that to cause high FT3.  We'll know lots more when new test results are available and you can post results and reference ranges.  As far as the low ferritin and low Vitamin D, we see that frequently for patients who are hypo.  Those can be a big part of your symptoms also, so the doctor should recommend action for those right away.

I had the labs redrawn today...should know something by the end of the week. I do know that my ferritin is in the low side at 30, and vit D is 19. I wonder if that could be causing the FT 3 to be elevated?

Rather than worry about it, I think I would call the doctor and relate your concern about the FT3 result being so inconsistent with your symptoms and other test results and ask if you can go back now and be retested for FT3.

I did...that's why I'm so confused. I just dont understand what could cause it to be elevated..I've researched the Internet for answers but to no avail. I do not return to my doctor until Jan and I am really worried about this...I hope to find a reason for this to ease my mind!

Those test results just don't seem to add up, especially in view of your hypo symptoms.    I am suspicious of the FT3 result.   Would you please double check it and confirm with the lab report?
