Do you think I could have a thyroid problem?

Ok, I have been having problems off and on since I gave birth to my son a year ago. These problems include, fast heartrate, dizziness, chest pains, nausea, muscle weakness, shortness of breath over very litlle exertion, dry itchy skin, sometimes I feel like my heart is pounding and sometimes I get the shakes, I also sometimes feel like my hands are very hot. I went to the hospital about a month or 2 ago for the heart racing and shortness of breath. They put me on the heart monitor, did chest xray and ekg all of my tests were perfect except for my heart was beating fast in the 100 to 120 range while at rest. If I do anything physically exerting at all my heart will get as far 150, also my blood pressure was high as well. The doctor told me that all of my tests were normal except my thyroid was on the high end of normal. He then told me to see an endocrinologist. I don't know what the numbers were on the thyroid test but he said it was right on the line. My question is do you think I am hyperthyroid? Sorry this was so long!

Hi,

from what you describe you could well be hyperthyroid.  This is not unusual post-partum.

It would have helped if you actually knew your numbers.

Anyway, please do go and see that endocrinologist, and let us know how you go.
