Two fold question- terrible leg muscle pain and uptake scan

About 2 weeks ago I began having horrible thigh muscle pain.  I have been losing weight.  I have 2 thyroid nodules and high thyroid antibodies 317. My TSH and T4 are within normal range.  I have had thyroiditis for many years and would go through bouts of fatigue and palpitations etc, but this new issue with the muscle pain is awful.  I had a test for blood clots but that was negative.  I am going for a thyroid scan and uptake for my nodules.  Anyone experience unbearable muscle pain?  I don't know if its related but just wonder.  I am really worried about my uptake and scan next week because to top everything off I cannot swallow pills. They don't offer liquid form of the uptake in my area.  I am beside myself , I cannot even swallow little pills.  Help!

Which antibodies are high?  Do you have Graves' or Hashi's?

Please post your actual T4 and TSH results and include reference ranges, which vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report.

Are you on any thyroid meds?

Have you asked your doctor about taking magnesium for the muscle pain?

Have you ever tried swallowing pills with a little bit of applesauce instead of water?

Thank you for your reply Courtney.  I will do my best to relax then. It does make me feel better knowing that I am not the only person experiencing issues because of my thyroid.

Take care

I have lower leg cramps during the night and upon waking.  It seems like what I imagine restless leg syndrome to be.  My pain isn't unbearable though.  My doctor did ask me specifically though at my last appointment if I have any muscle pain.  I explained to her what I just shared with you and she was not concerned by my description.  My labs showed me within normal limits, but not as hypo as the labs before.  She was concerned I might be overmedicated, but again, since I wasn't in terrible pain, kept med dose as it was.  Anyway, sorry for the long response, just sharing my experience. So, like you, no idea if your pain is thyroid related, but maybe it is.  Definitely run it by your doc just in case.

I'm so sorry that you'll have to swallow pills with no alternatives.  I imagine that alone induces worry, let alone the test and results that follow.  Until then, try to stay focused on the fact that although scary, the tests will give more info in order to better help you make good health decisions.  Good luck!
