Extreme exhaustion

Dx papillary thyroid cancer in May 09 with extensive mets to the neck, both lungs(>35 areas) and the bone.
Trmt:  TT June 09, plus 150 mci RAI
Meds: on levothyroid 150 mcg daily

I sleep until 10 in the morning, and am fatigued all day. If I do anything, like today I went shopping for an hour, I could barely make it up the steps when I came home.

Question:  Should I expect this to get better (I HOPE!) and when?

Thank you in advance for your input. I reall appreciate it.

Your TSH is great, and the Thyroglobulin (Tg) is high, but the RAI works in your body for many months, so the next Tg test will be a better indicator.  The goal is to have undetectable Tg.  I was given another whole body scan and blood work, 6 months after my RAI, to see how it had worked. I'm not sure about the T4.

Thanks, I just got my labs back and my thyroglobulin is 154. My T4 is 1.6 an my TSH is <0.05.

Do those sound OK?

Hi Monica, it does take a while to get the right dose of meds to feel normal again.  You have had a major diagnosis and must give your body time to  recover.  Have you had your TSH checked since your TT? You were probably hypo in preparation for your RAI, so it will take a while to get your TSH back where the doctor wants it.  Good luck.
