NOW the "generic" Armour from Acella to worm back in the highlights to get some new ideas out there
- stella , what are you saying?
I've got plenty of ideas. Just give me some hope that we can get the ideas publicized somewhere and I'll post lots of material for you.
I think we could use the new Tirosint and NOW the "generic" Armour from Acella to worm back in the highlights to get some new ideas out there.
just a thought.
Well that was fast. The magazine editor got back to me and mentioned they have had plenty of thyroid articles in the past, and will again in the future. He sent me a link to their online mag, I searched thyroid - they did have some impressive articles for a fitness / health mag and seem to have contacts with some good docs that know thyroid - and quotes from Mary Shomon. I was surprised.
So they have their own information line and aren't to interested in peddling some groups message- was the feeling I got. I can see there point. Can always remind them next fall.
Yo might want to see what they've printed: www . experiencelifemag . com - Its the same company that owns online lab testing healthcheck u s a . c o m
Thyroid awareness month is not to tell people about your own medical issues. It's to make everyone aware of the fact that many people suffer from thyroid issues, as well, as relay to others that if they have a thyroid issue, there is help for them.
I have never heard of "thyroid awareness month", but I don't like people knowing my medical life, so I would not acknowledge it anyway.
But that is just me...
Thanks Nat for posting the link! I was out all day and didn't get around to it.
The Australian Thyroid foundation sells the small bows each year to raise funds and awareness for thyroid cancer (as Red stated).
Here's a link to the page about our little gold bows http://www.thyroidfoundation.com.au/events/event_gbd/gbd_home.html
How about a flyer to post at our work place?
Red - can you provide a link on the bow?
I have wondered just who decided that Thyroid Awareness month was January. For those who didnt know: Its the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), partially sponsored by Abott Labs (Synthroid) that officially started the campaign (or at least hold the bragging rights to it in this country).
However, Mary Shomon 'owns' the website Thyroidawarenessmonth *******.
So on a serous note:
Well, since I wrote that post / poll last month on what we need to do for awareness, I guess I should try something. I just hit 'send' to the editor of a national fitness and health magazine. Its based in St Paul Mn, my state.
January is past due for any national publisher, but hopefully I'll soon find out, if their interested in the near future. Will keep you posted on what they say. ( I asked for a little more than just a letter to the editor, an informative article). Everyone cross their fingers.
I thought of writing to my little local paper, but informative articles are not their style, well never seen it there. . They like stories about the local people, personal - I'm not going there. The two big state papers wouldn't give a hoot about thyroid.
Red - what do you have in mind? PM me.
LM
Here in Australia we have gold bow for awareness. Mind you it has been around for ages but just never catches on. The thryoid group here sell small metal gold bows for a few dollars. No one ever knows what it is for! Just never marketed right!
I reckon it would be great for everyone to write to their local newspaper stating it is Thyroid Awareness month and to ask them to run a story of a thyroid patient. Hopefully a good news story, not one of our own sob stories! LOL! I am going to do that, write to the local rag, and see what happens!
We can all fall asleep at work, that might gain awarness.
Oh wait, I've done that, and the results weren't so good either. I'll try to think of something with a more positive outcome. Hmm.....
