Hi stella5349,
Your post was helpful. I'm a Hashi sufferer too. When these antibodies hit, even when in a normal TSH range (1.0), what is the cure, if any? Oh--my p. antibodies test was extremely high--way out of the normal range.
My tonsils are inflamed and red (on fire), my thyroid gland is tender to the touch and sore, and my teeth have the slightest slightest movement, which has never happened before. This has been going on since December (going back and forth with doctors...no clear answer yet). I've been to a dentist (not gum disease).
I see an ENT doctor the 16th and follow up with the Endo in Novemeber for a 2nd ultrasound on a nodule 1.2 centimeters in size. Freaked out about cancer!
This must be part of the Hashi inflamation?
I had unusal swelling also of face, lips tongue, hands and feet. Dr.'s weren't sure I finally went to an allergist and no allergy he ran a test for thyroid antibody and came back hashimotos. Can't be treated because I am in the normal range. Swellings tend to come and go and aren't as bad as they were.
Hashi thyroidtits is common and swelling of not just body parts but the gland itself is part of the package.
When Hashi antibodies are hitting they are in control and your immune is weak at that time.
Inflammation is a normal thing when the body is not right. Many Hashi's are magnesium deficient - are you on any magnesium.
It helps alot - about 250mgs. can be upped to 500mg
My face occasionally swells. My ears triple in size, my eyes are swollen shut and my lips get big enough to touch my nose. I get hives all over my body more often. It was years of this problem before my doctor thought of Hashimoto's and tested me, even though I had been hypothyroid for that whole time. I had to start taking Allegra twice a day to keep them under control.I am currently on my 3rd week straight of uncontrollable body hives, and the swelling in my face has started. My doctor is trying something new that seems to help, but I am exhausted. Starts with a X, but I cant think of it off the top of my head right now.
I have swelling also of the gums and tongue as well as my feet, hands and face. My Dr. keeps testing every 3 months, just to make sure I stay healthy.
