HELP PLEASE

I am in the process of being diagnosed. My MD said in March my blood tests for the Thyroid were normal. Now in April Endo says very hyper she thinks Graves, all symptoms you can think of. Is this possible? Also I have MSK and must have stones removed often from ureters, now on Thyroxine & Inderal....will this disease or meds. affect a emergency surgery??? Thanks Carol

Methimazole is an ANTI - thyroid med and not Thyroxin.
MMI 'blocks ' the thyroid whereas Thyroxin provides hormones that the thyroid cannot produce.
Personally I think you may have Graves Disease.
Just make sure your levels dont go too low on Methimazole as they can change very quickly on an anti-thyroid med.
Get regualar blood tests every 4-6 weeks or when you feel a change in symptoms as the dosage will need to be increased or decreased.
I was on MMI (Carbimazole) for nearly 14 months but the antibodies stopped the medication working and I had RAI. (radioactive iodine) and am now on Thyroxine.
I thought it was weird that you said you was on thyroxin whilst hyper.

Good Luck :)

Why are you on Thyroxin if you are HYPER?
Hyper is overactive.
You shouldnt be on thyroxin if hyper...are you sure you have got it right?
Thyroxine is putting yr levels UP even more...it doesnt make sense.
Post yr levels here.
Also ask your Doc for antibody testing for Graves Disease.
A Doctor cannot diagnose Graves without those tests being done.
