Hashimoto's & Depression

My husband was told after testing by an Internist that he has Hashimotos.  He seems to be hyper more often than not as he experiences symptoms of arrythmias, tachycardia (has been cardioverted x1), heat intolerance, trembling hands, hyperhidrosis, etc.  However he also goes through periods of fatigue, has joint pain, thin hair and eyebrows, fertility issues and I'm starting to believe he's been depressed for some time.  His Dr.  has decided not to treat his condition with meds because his levels will fluctuate so he told us to just be aware of the symptoms and the thyroid would in time die off and then need synthetic med replacement.  I'm wondering if it would be an effective treatment now to start treatment for depression with an SNRI and Propranolol for the tremors and cardiac symptoms?

Wow -- I can't believe that his doctor would recommend waiting until the thyroid has "died off" to start treating the thyroid issue.

Do you have a copy of his latest lab report?  It would be great if you could post the tests run, along with their results and the lab's reference ranges, since different labs use different ranges.  If you don't have a copy of the lab report, it would be a good idea to get one.

We can't know whether he's hypER or hypO without seeing the actual lab results.  Some of the symptoms can be the same for either.

Remember -- depression is one of the main symptoms of hypo/Hashimoto's, so if his thyroid issues were treated, his depression could lessen also.
