Hashimotos only?

Hi, ive been recently told I have hashimotos after being bleh since 2003. as of 2yrs ago I was 380lbs which prior I was 150lbs. Within past 2yrs ive gotten to 250lbs with no dieting or exercise. ive been having horrible symptoms of rapid heart rate, fatigue where I cant get out of bed, pain in shoulders, hips, and down back of my legs, nausea, dizzy, headaches, cant talk/think right, lately feels like my eye twitches and tingles in my face. My neck ulayra sound showed not smooth and antibioties at 214, not sure if thats bad. Ive been on synthroid for 15 yrs but its rollercoasting dose, 75 mcg to 250mcg then down and up again. An endo told me nothing is wrong that I need a shrink for depression and anxiety, problem is, im not depressed lol im scared...i cant be a mom and im scared to be alone now. I had high white blood count spilling over in my urine test and they dont know why. Ive done so many tests and they can only find thyroid issue. Can anyone give me suggestions pls? I really think the drs are letting me die slowly...

My endo also told me it was all in my head.  At the time I was drastically switching from hypo to hyper.  At one point I swung from .001 to 26 in 4 weeks time.  I hope the new doc helps you.  I've been seeing an ENT for another issue though and he didn't seem to know anything about thyroid issues.  Hopefully yours is much better.  I live in a small town lol.

Barb- I am not the type of person to cry, but while I was fluctuating so severely my endo was blowing me off as usual (my thyroid couldn't possibly have been causing anything I was going through) and I started crying.  I said I feel like I can't live my life anymore.  He said "Are you suicidal".  I swear I just started crying more.  NO, I am not suicidal, I am sick, my sickness is making me not be able to live my life, which is making me depressed.  This is why I am here for help.  He handed me a list of psychologists.

I did find a new endo though, and I am getting my thyroid removed next month.  As Barb said your symptoms do sound like you are moving back and forth between hypo and hyper.  I know how horrible this disease is.  I wish you the best of luck.

I forgot to add, the endo was so nice to say that since I have so much weight to play around with, its no big deal I lost so much without trying.....i was absurd! Wouldnt that point to something is wrong? Lol I was at170lb at age 18 and it took alot of exercise and dieting to get my 150lbs yet I drop 130lbs in 2yrs without tryimg. Strikes me as odd...although I would like to drop another 100..lol

They told me my thyroid was smaller than normal ones but said it was due to the synthrode. Nobody has mentioned it making extra hormones yet. Just wish they would figure it out. I have sleep apnea since 2005 with that weight gain im sure and this time last yr they finally put me on blood pressure pills. For 2 yrs I was throwing averages of 195/100 and it got to the point I was close to kidney failure. That test was at 43% with 60% being failure..now bp and kidneys are normal thankfully. I did at one time take their meds for depression and anxiety. After almost getting in car accidents with my kids from being a zombie, they all was flushed and I refuse to take them again.
I live in a small town so endos are 2hrs away, im really hopeing this ent turns out to be the one to fix this mess. 15 min drive and with brains, im sold lol
I didnt take my synthroid today, been having those weird heart palpitations since yestetday. I just dont know when im accidentally overdosing now...im honestly scared heart failure is going to get me soon...

Is your thyroid swollen? Your antibody count, at 214, is high, indicating the Hashimoto's.  Has anyone mentioned whether or not your thyroid could be producing extra hormones, which could make you lose weight without trying?

I don't blame you for not going back to that endo.  Many doctors only want to push antidepressants or something on us, when that's not what we need.  I had a doctor who insisted that I was depressed, which was making me feel bad; I told him it was the other way around....... the feeling bad was making me depressed....... he refused to listen and insisted that I take paxil....... that made me so horribly tired, I couldn't stay awake for anything.  I only took it for about 2 weeks and found another doctor; still took years to get a dx.

Looking forward to seeing your labs, and wish you luck with the new ENT.

Im suppose to see an E.N.T june 2nd since I refuse to go back to that endo. As for labs, I will ask for a copy at that visit. They said a have no nodules and I have been hypo for 15 yrs but never had so much trouble till this past 2 years. The symptoms are just getting worse. Throat has been achey for 3 wks now amd im just about to go bonkers. :(  ty for responding, I will grab labs asap

Do you  have copies of your latest thyroid test results?  I sounds like you might be hypo, but without test results, that's impossible to say for sure.

Your endo (I hope you've kicked him to the curb and gotten another by now) should very well know that if you have nodules (not sure if that's what your ultra sound showed or not), that it's not unusual to swing between hyper and hypo......

If you have a copy of your labs, please post them along with reference ranges, which vary from lab to lab, so must come from your own report. This will enable members to more fully evaluate your situation and comment on it.
