I am still here for you. Just so you know, you are not suffering alone. Today my anxiety is through the roof and like you I just want to die too!! I hate all this!
I will, and Il let ye know how I get on! thanks for all the support, it means a lot when no-one I know understand. Nice to find a release for all this anger!
Great. Glad to hear it. This could finally get you on the right track to feeling better. When you call for an appointment you might mention how long you have been suffering from Hashi's and hypothyroidism and ask for the earliest possible appt. Good luck.
he was recommended by a friend whose daughter had hypo. She said hes good. They went to one in Tralee (home town) and was useless so then went to limerick! I will more than likely ring 2mo and make an app.!
What do you know about the doctor in Limerick?
Im in Kerry, about 5 hours away! I know of one in Limerick which is close to where I am.. I really cant cope any moe Im so down I just want to die! My life is just so dry at the moment, its so upsetting!
I really think that you are wasting whatever energy you have by chasing the idea that surgery for your thyroid will solve your problem. Likewise for getting an ultrasound.
The problem is that you have Hashi's. Your TSH is still too high, indicating that you are not getting enough meds to get your free T3 and free t4 to the upper part of their range and suppress the TSH to the low end of its range and relieve your symptoms. Clearly you are running into the UK Health Service stone wall on thyroid issues. From what I read they are adamant that patients only need medication to bring their TSH into the reference range (the old range, by the way). This frequently results in patients with lingering hypo symptoms. Getting more blood testing done in a few months isn't going to help either.
Within your health system do you have the freedom to go to any other doctor? If so, can you possibly find one that is not so rigid about TSH being the determining factor for medication? That's what you really need, a doctor that will treat you based on your symptoms, by testing and adjusting your free T3 and free T4 as required to relieve those symptoms, without being shackled by TSH.
Not sure where you are located, but I did find a listing for a good thyroid doctor in Dublin. If that is not nearby, then perhaps his office could recommend a good thyroid doc in your area. I'll send it by PM.
Oh and I want to say thanks for all yer cheering up comments! I love reading them as I know I will smile and laugh!
keep up with the Irish "slang" too, its great!
Cheers to ye all!
Off his duff lol... We usually say "up the duff" (as in pregnant lol)..,.
Im still thinking about my options. I think my next step is getting an ultra sound done and see what that comes up with. Then I can make a clearer decision on what to do.
I didn't have an app. but only a phone call to get results for glandular fever which came back neg.
I wont be getting more bloods done for thyroid untill sept. and I asked him to do more but he wont. I also asked for an increase but he wont either. So I think I just have to put up with it untill next tetsing! My last TSH was at 4.33 so he thinks its ok. I asked for an increase of 25mcg but no luck!
I should tell him to "Pog mo hole" Irish for kiss my a$$! lol
OMG! Thats enough to scare anyone!
Get rid of him!
gimel....I wish I knew you last November, that was about the last time I went to my original dr and he got into my face and I actually got back into his, which surprised him to say the least....bloody scared me to death.....he's always got one of those big veteranary needles hanging on his wall....You know the ones that are stainless steel and have an actual trigger and big enough for a cow.....I think he knows how to use it.
Jennifer, I'm not quite sure why you feel the need to surgically remove your thyroid. If I'm not mistaken you were having another appt. with doctor today, weren't you? We're all waiting anxiously to find out if you made any headway with the doc.
The reason you're feeling so lousy right now is that you are being undermedicated, because your thyroid is not functioning properly because of Hashi's. Even if you had your thyroid glands removed, you're still going to suffer in the same way unless you get your doctor off his duff (I think that's a proper Irish term) and treat your symptoms by testing and adjusting your free T3 and free T4, instead of relying on TSH.
Maybe you should tell your doctor that we have the EIT ( Enhanced Interrogation Techniques) team of Endos on standby to sit with him and talk about thyroid problems until he agrees to increase your meds. As I said, no one has yet to be able to withstand more than 4 days of that. LOL
As time goes on Jennifer and as you learn more about thyroid issues, you too will find the 'fighting spirit' in you as so many have done here.
Did you honestly think we all started off knowing everything?
No we didnt and as each day passes, you too will find that inner strength to say to your Doctor/Endo...no bl@@y more!
I have even noticed changes in your postings where you are learning more and more each day and taking control of yout condition.
You deserve a pat on the back Girl as it took me to breaking point before I got the 'fighting spirit' lol.
You have come so far in your knowledge.
Well done :)
I also have Hashimotos. I HATE it... I have been on meds for it since sept 08 but I dont reallt see any improvements. Levels are always out and its just not on any more. Im thinking about getting my thyroid removed, I couldn't suffer for 7 years like you did....
I just dont know. I wish I had your fighting spirit! Makes a world of difference if you can stick up for your self!...
Il get my mom to do it LOL!
Good for you. Glad to hear that you are taking charge. When you meet with the doctor in July, I suggest that you find out up front if he/she treats a patient based primarily on TSH or not. If a doctor medicates you just enough to get you into the reference range for TSH, frequently this leaves patients with lingering hypo symptoms.
I would ask if the doctor is willing to treat you by testing and adjusting your free T3 and free T4 levels as required to alleviate your hypo symptoms, rather than treating you based on TSH.
