on the coffee thing with this condition too. It goes a bit more into detail then just the thyroid meds, drinking coffee and how well you take in the meds.

All of us are equiped with receptors that divide into a TH-1 and TH-2. If you are dominant in TH-2 (?) if I remember right - the coffee with block absorption

That doesn't sound crazy at all with calcium. Calcium not balanced effects the parathyroid and have you checked out the symptom list on starved parathyroid disbursements?

They mock alot with what we talk about with thyroid too.

My thought here for ACNSC would be to pay special notice on your next labs you do and make sure they run the Free T tests for sure.

Read up on those tests to make sure you understand where they might need to be for you to feel your best.

After no synthroid 75mcgs for 4 days I begin to feel really awful :(

I had a partial in '07 and the other side never worked again properly, if at all as in 20% of the cases.

Thank you. I've been on 25mg of synthroid for over a year, only increased the day after my surgery to 50mg..and after multiple blood test.  I think my main symptoms, as crazy as it sounds, were from the low calcium..and that my wings were beating to different drums. LOL

Just looking over your surgical history and see you are a recent TT patient.  I hope you are feeling well.

I see you have been taking your thyroid meds for only a few days and wanted to drop a note here to say most likely you haven't felt the effects yet of those meds - but maybe the removal was definately something that could make you feel better right now.

T4 meds especially take a few weeks to build up in the system and being on this for 4 days most likely wouldn't be visable quite yet.

I found it: http://thyroid.about.com/b/2008/09/03/coffee-thyroid-drugs.htm It says to wait at least 1 hr before drinking coffee..I guess I'll do like my granma and wake up @ 5am take my meds and go back to bed for an hour. *sheesh*

Ugh! Are you ~serious~?!?! What about decaf? I wonder if it's the caffeine or something else.

Be aware that coffee is also an inhibitor for thyroid medication.! I will find the medical research on it for you.

"No thyroid means take your tablets or you will drop dead!!!" I was thinking the same thing myself. I would think you'd ~want~ to take your meds to feel better. I know I'm on day 4 after my TT and I feel much better, but I am faithfully taking my synthroid. Also, make sure you take your meds at the same time each day (or as close as you possibly can), and nothing to eat or drink 1-4 hrs afterwards. Dairy can interfere with the absorption of synthroid, making it not work as it is intended to. I drink coffee in the morning with powder ~non~ dairy creamer.

Not very long!  Within a month you'll be feeling cruddy and wished you'd never stopped. In 2 months you'll more than likely be in a coma and within 3 probably dead from cardiac arrest.

If you want to stop because you can't afford it, you need to start asking the doctor what they can do for you. You could get sample doses or you could organise a pay it off scheme with the pharmacist.

I am hoping it is only that reason you would like to know the answer too.

No thyroid means take your tablets or you will drop dead!!!!

Why would you want to go without your meds?? Not a good idea at all.  Do you have your most recent lab results with ranges?
