Help Stress and Graves?

i work in a high stress job, many impossible deadlines and no raise in 7 years,  yes that's right no raise is 7 years. After diagnosed with fibromyalgia, then lyme disease then vitamin B12 deficiency. i started working at home knocking 8 hours off my week, with everything i had to do for work and child and home i felt overwhelmed, i had to increase hours by 4 to off set the no raises. of course i got sick with graves. My questions is this, will my progress in graves be delayed due to this stress? i have also have had one long continuous bout with insomnia, sleeping through an occasional night here and there, but i think that is just because my body can't handle it anymore. I have tried to have my husband look at the pattern, but he says his job is stressful to and i should just handle it. i did forget to mention when i was pregnant (working same place), i ended up pre-diabetic, had toxemia and had to go to complete bed rest then had an infection which actually gave me some more time off from work, but did not get paid and had a new baby at home to feed so no stress from work but from no pay. ok if there is a correlation between stress and all that has ailed me how do i get my husband to understand that my body handles it differently?

working full time mom, but he is no longer a baby and can fend for himself now. he is a teenager now. all the stuff i mentioned has happened for the last 16 years. So thankgoodness no little one, at 46 years old i would cry and never stop. LOL

I think the link to all my issues is the stress, but cannot find anything that would come close to what i make, plus 46 years old and have been doing the same thing and working at the same place since college. I definitely need a change. but…

really bad day yesterday, eyes hurt, insomnia plaguing me for weeks, deadlines that were impossible to meet was down in the dumps!!

thanks for responding. GW

Do you have any relief for the baby with a break or are you working full time mom & work without any help? What about a mom's helper to come in after school while you are there .. their rates are usually less since you are there at home.

Thanks, miserable day with work and dealing with everything else a mom has to do, while the husband sits in denial on the couch watching TV. He does work hard and does deserve to sit when he comes home, but most nights once he sits he is down for the night, I work just as hard and have to keep going, and he wonders why I am in bed most nights by 8:30!!! sheer exhaustion maybe? hmmmmmm

I love the tinfoil hat remark. LOL

thanks for the input

My personal opinion is that stress makes any thyroid illness worse. A few of us have a half-baked theory that stress contributed to the onset.

But then I have a tinfoil hat on, so you have to keep that in mind. LOL!!

How do you get your husband to grasp the concept that not all people handle stress the same way?

You ask hard questions.

Spousal support can be a problem because you are not bleeding. Your leg is not broken. You look normal. Still, expecting you to suck it up and handle your stress (and your illness!!) just because he hasn't had a stress related heart attack yet is a bit annoying.

How to convey that to him in a positive manner is something you'll have to figure out.
