WIth the 50mcg of Levo taken and a total of 90mcg of Armour you are getting to much homone in you. Has your doctor explained to you the reason why he feels taking the Armour 3x's a day is beneficial? Did he start that out right away along with your 50mcg of Levo? I do not take any Synthroid and only take 1 tablet of Armour 90mcg in the morning. At my last visit a few days ago I questioned the split dosage with him and asked if that may help me more than taking the 1 med in the morning. He didn't feel (with being on Armour alone) splitting it through out the day is good. Routine is taking any thyroid med first thing in the morning without food is best.
Your blood TSH reflects hyper thyroid - which means your doctor should have the sense to cut the meds down - whether to take you totally off the Levo - or cut the Armour down to at least 1/2 the total dosage you are taking throughout the day.
I don't think I would quite "jump ship" with him yet. but I would call him and state your concerns.
That TSH should range around 1.0 or slightly above. Don't go by the maxium range given on your lab. It should be no higher than 3.0 not 5.5.
Being hyper doesn't make one energetic. I could hardly get out of bed some days from being so exhausted. Hyper also made me super hungry. I know I'm hyper when I start craving lots of sugar and chocolate.
You are getting way too much thyroid! I would find another doctor who knows what they are doing. If you are on synthroid, the most armour you should be on is 15mgs. You probably have adrenal fatigue, too. I would find an endocrinologist that can set you straight.
Hyper thyroid !! but Hypo symptom. That is really tough. I am so sorry. The best solution is to stay on a light diet - exercise (BOOOOOO) and get the TSH to 1.0 - 1.5 .
I think your will bounce back great. If you didn't catch my last post I still am sub - clinical hypo and I gained 8 pounds (BOOOOOOOO) ... again.
I will be walking to get this off.
Hi
I forgot to post the tsh level- it was 0.013 normal range is 0.35-5.5 according to the lab.
Thanks
Your slightly high on the T3 b/c of Armour - that is pretty normal -Where is this TSH level? Please post that, You say very low- but many reference ranges are available and you may be reading a low TSH incorrectly. That TSH number is really helpful and need to be compared to your T4 and T3 especially since you are on both synthetic and Armour thyroid replacement.
Post the actual numbers. I may have a thought.
I can't give any real help but to let you know you are NOT alone in this! My TSH is very suppressed because of thyroid cancer and yet I've gained over 40lbs in just a few years. Nothing I do can take it away either. What's really bad is I'm only 5'3"
Others here can offer more advice. I just wanted to tell you that you aren't the only one!
