Armour is fast acting unlike Synthroid. You should see a difference within 24-48 hrs.
Personally if it was me - I wouldn't go off totally but I am not a doctor. Armour does give thyroid patients a period of hyperness symptoms for 2 weeks during a med increase.
I always have a heart palps and a little sleepnesses - for about a week or two when I increase my meds.
But I am now at the point of Euthroidism that I know am working on my weight (lose 20 pound goal) So I am increasing in even doses to get my body moving now.
I had to stop synthroid cold turkey for a week (per dr's orders) because I went hyper. About day 5 is when I quit feeling wacky. I started back up at 15mg of armour, and have upped it to 30 mg. 15 in the morning 15 at 2.
I had been raised up to 120 mg. and then my tsh was0.09, Was told by md to stay off completely for one week, then start up at 45 mg.
I have been splittin my doses up as i read that was the best way.
I just feel wacky. Does anyone know how long for it to get out of your system? I also was wondering if I should drop down to 30 instead of just stopping.
THanks for your suggestions. Greatly appreciated.
You need to take your increases in very small increments. The normal increase is 1/4 tablet for two weeks and then another 1/4 grain.
You will go through some hyperactivity while adjusting to the new amount. Usually they last two to four weeks-
If you are suffering - take dosages in smaller increases and split your meds through the course of an 8 hr day
What was your previous dose and what is it now?
