I always feel like I have something stuck in my throat!   I was on synthroid 10 years ago...but stop taking...and the tsh is always within the normal ranges.  I am tired all the time, I have started gaining weight, and now having other weird symptoms like my tongue is tingling.

No - Your RBC has nothing to do with thyroid - but if it is low - they should run the labs for thyroid depending on your symptoms and other conditions.

You need to start first with the Free T3 and Free T4 w/ a TSH. then look at antibodies. You can run all together.

Thanks Everyone,   My T4, free (direct) was 1.27...but he didn't not test my T3, free??...so I don't know.  I go  back this thursday for follow up due to HIGH Vit. D, 1, 25, dihydroxy...which could mean .... Hyperparathyroidism?, Sarcoidosis ?, Hypercalcemia, ....and was told by a friend I should have my PTH, Calcium, Alkaline Phospatase, Phoshorus all tested???  So who knows....I am just tired of not feeling like myself...I can not remember anything...and I'm tired most of the time...and can sleep all the time.

"RBC low - could mean antibody issues."

Hello stella.  My recent bloodwork is at:
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Thyroid-Disorders/New-thyroid-labwork/show/1193153

My FT4 is low-normal and my TSH is high.  It looks like subclinical hypothyroid, with years-past borderline hypo.  I haven't been to my doctor yet for diagnosis and meds.

I read what you said about low RBC and looked up my medical files:

10-26-09
RBC   4.15 LOW

10-28-09
RBC    3.78 LOW

10-29-09
RBC    3.83 LOW

10-30-09
RBC    3.67 LOW

10-31-09
RBC    3.83 LOW

Might this mean the subclinical hypothyroid is from Hashimoto or something else?  I haven't had antibody testing yet but I want to and I will ask for it.

Thank you.

RBC low - could mean antibody issues.

Have you had antibody testing... Hashimoto - Lupus or Lymes?

I agree with Tamra.
Get your labs done with the Free T4 and Free T3 and not just the TSH or the regular T test which are outdated.
Good Luck :o)

Synthroid should NOT be dosed based on TSH, which is a pituitary hormone, not a thyroid hormone. Besides, 2.24 is slightly high. Average TSH in a healthy thryoid is 1.1. What your doc really needs to be testing and treating are the FT3 and FT4 levels. By measuring and treating those frees and your symptoms, I bet you will need to get back on the thyroid hormone. I bet your cholesterol will come down on the meds. Also, some of us with thyroid probs are vitamin or iron deficient.

Below is a great site for recommended endos. Call the office and ask the nurse if the doc treats the symptoms and the frees - NOT THE TSH!!! Then you know you have a good endo.
