How serious is my thyroid condition?

I just had some thyroid tests done last week because I was feeling ill with flu symptoms that weren't going away--in particular, a ridiculously sore throat and persistent cough. My Free T3 was 13.4 and normal range is 2.0-4.4. My TSH was .0006 and normal range is 0.450-4.500. And my Free T4 was 3.53 and normal range is 0.82-1.77. I'm scheduled for a thermal scan with uptake for 2 weeks down the road. And today I had more Thyroid tests done--in particular, antibodies tests. It's Memorial day weekend and I've been sick 10 days now. My doc put me on beta blockers to reduce my heart rate and blood pressure. Heart rate at rest was 100 and BP was 73/135. I had been diagnosed with Thyroiditis for the last 15 years now and living fine with it and on no meds, and now I'm obviously hyperthyroid. I'm seeking my first Endocrinologist in 15 years so that I can get proper treatment. Questions: do beta blockers really help the symptoms of hyperthyroidism, because I don't feel any better after 2 days of 80mg/day of Propranolol. And how urgently should I be trying to get into the only Endo in my county? It's difficult to get in as a new patient. In the wee hours of the morning, I feel like I'm on death's door. Then I'm up and down throughout the day. Do my levels suggest that I'm only going to feel worse if I don't get on thyroid meds immediately? Or do folks have flare ups and eventually feel better on their own without meds? I know I need meds, but getting the treatment in a timely fashion has been really difficult. Any suggestion on what I can do in the interim for my health?

First off, it seems that you would need "anti-thyroid" med, rather than thyroid medication.

Some folks do have "flare ups" that go away on their own; however, you have no idea IF it will go away on its own or how long that might take.  Being hyper can have serious consequences, particularly on your heart........ You should be working on getting into the endo asap............

Thanks for the reply, Barb. This flare up I'm experiencing is just as bad if not worse than it was a week ago. At least I am on beta blockers for my heart. So, no worries there. I'm still trying to score an appointment as I think anti-thyroid meds are what I need.

Thanks,
Carole
