How to take synthroid?

If I take my synthroid on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning, do I need to wait before drinking my morning coffee?

To avoid having to worry about whether or not I waited long enough after taking synthroid, I take mine while still in bed about and hour and a half before I get up.  I'm able to fall right back to sleep afterwards.

I swallow mine with a glass of water and then have my 2nd cup of coffee for the morning.
As long as you do the same all the time, there should be no problems.
Redhead is right.
Crushing is ok  as long as you swallow all of it as I take 1 1/4 tablets a day and the 1/4 of the tablet crushes sometimes.
My Doc said it was ok as long as there was no residue left behind.

Can the synthroid be crushed since I have trouble swallowing?

I have read that the heat from the cofee will affect the way the synthroid is absorbed.  The key is be consistant.  Take it the same way every day.

No, you can have liquid, (of course a beer first thing in the morning doesn't count!!!) but not food. The Synthroid will attach to the food and be digested, the liquid in your tummy is digested but also is not digested in the same way as food.
It is preferable to wait but it is more the food which is the problem.
