Hyperthyroidism.

i'm 15 and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism when i was 14 ( 6 months ago ) and i'm sexually active and my boyfriend and i haven't used protection at all, i know it's probably stupid to worry about this stuff at such a young age but i'm scared because of my disease that i am unable to have children. my doctor has recently put me on the lowest pill dosage and i'm take neo-mercazole for my hyperthyroidism i'm also wondering will this effect my chances of having a baby when i am older ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated xx

Hi. Hyperthyrodism does not affect your fertility. Your hyperthyroidism has been diagnosed early on. Your menstrual cycle won't be a heavy one but that doesn't mean you're infertile. It just means your lining is thin. With Neo-mercazole your thyroid function will be brought down. Keep up with your check-up's to monitor your thyroid levels. And please, please, please...you are so young to be sexually active...use protection and look after your body. There are so many sexual diseases out there and trust is a big thing to expect of a young boy who has his hormones going more crazy than your's. HUGS
