Hypo? post RAI, meds, reaction

Im post TT as of 2/5.  RAI 131 on 2/24 TSH was about 70.  24hrs after 100mci 131 I got a rash.  48 hrs later started levoxthroine 150 3 days post 131 told to go to er due to rash and elevated hr.  Nuclear med doctor said he and his colleauges have never seen a reaction to RAI 131.  I am not allegic to iodine.  What we found was the capsule (outer part) that holds the iodine in has a small trace of sulfa, in which I am allergic too and had been told there was no sulfa in this pill.  Rash has now subsided but Endo changed Levox from 150 to 5.  Last check my TSH was 8 but that was 4 days post 131 and 2 days post Levox 150 started.  Now been taking .05 levoxl and still batteling fluctuating heart rate.  Yesterday felt o.k today I feel totally out of it, shaky, confused just out of it and emotional agian.  I was wondering with the low dose of levoxl will my TSH be going up and making me hypo again but still have elevated hr?  Is this normal and or any suggestions.  Im now 9 days post RAI .

The hot and cold tells me you are swinging as well as the heart rate and brain fog. I do wonder if you have an adrenal problem or you are having a reaction to the meds. Many endos are unwilling to prescribe you natural thyroid meds. That's what you might need.
I suggest going to an endo off the website I provided above, one who is willing to try alternative treatment and tests.

150mcg to 50 mcg not sure about the t3,t4 will have to look into it.  Will 150mcg make me feel shaky, elevate heart and if so would it be normal to still feel that way on 50mcg?  only took 150mcg for 4 days now 50mcg for 6 days.  Seems to be getting worse.  Depression hot, cold, brain fog and elevated Heart rate, shaking?

So did I read correctly that he dropped you from 150 to 5. Or was that from 150 mcg to 50 mcg. Look at the bottle and read if it is in mg or mcg. Huge difference. Either way, if you feel your endo is taking your health on a roller coaster ride, then get a second opinion.

Below is where I found my new endo. Call the doctor's office and speak with the nurse. Ask the nurse, "Does this doctor treat thyroid based on FreeT4 and FreeT3, not just a TSH?" That's what you want. And maybe a doc who will look to alternative tests and treatment. Example, testing adrenals and trying a natural thyroid drug. Many of us with thyroid disease can have adrenal problems, and patients will not feel well until adrenals are treated.

Your current endo is testing T4 and T3, but the FreeT4 and FreeT3 is more accurate. Why is this doc using obsolete tests? Makes me wonder. You want the most knowledgeable doctor to be treating you, and, hopefully, level out your hormones.

T4 10.4
T3 35
He said Generic o.k.
I guess the change of dose was to try and control the elevated HR  although this was elevated since TT and LID.  Do you think given the change in dosage my levels will go back up?  Also when I was on LID and my levels were increasing I felt more hyper than hypo?  One day im tired the next im zooming and that was after TT and no thyroid meds, now on meds still feel up and down.

Why is the doctor bouncing your Levo so much? Is this brand generic? My doc strongly urges only name brand because some generics are made in other countries without regulation.

Please post your FT4 and FT3 levels. The doc should be treating the Free levels, and not TSH, a pituitary hormone. Also, sometimes we thyroid patients can have low adrenals that will cause these heart  problems. Get your adrenals checked.

Finally, every person has a thyroid drug that is right for them. Maybe this isn't your drug. Maybe you should find a good doc who would prescribe you a dessicated hormone, like Nature Throid.
