Interesting Reading ...from my Dietician Son-in-law

Here is some interesting reading that my Son-In-Law sent to me for anyone with Autoimmune Diseases.
Food for thought???....

CABALA JUICE

Daily minimum: makes approximately 2 litres

Carrot: 2 kilograms with skin
Apple (Red): 2 small size with skin on, seeds removed (eg. Jonathan, Fuji, Pink Lady)
Beetroot: 1/3 of your fist no skin
Apple (Green): 2 small size with skin on, seeds removed (eg. Granny Smith)
Lemon: 1/3 of your fist with skin
Apple (Yellow): 2 small size with skin on, seeds removed (eg. Golden Delicious)

CABALA Juice is designed based on Wholefood Signatures and on the principle that wholefood follows the law of light.

The word signature is a compound word consisting of “sign” and “nature”. A sign is something that suggests the presence or existence of a fact, condition or quality, an informational idea in the form of a symbol. Plant sign language signals to the observer the properties and intelligence contained within that plant for the purposes of healing, cleansing and maintaining. This essence or spirit of a plant is what ancient societies called the Doctrine of Signatures.

This doctrine of plant-based foods divided plants into five flavours or tastes, namely: bitter, sweet, pungent (or spicy), salty and sour. According to the doctrine these five flavours are associated with specific body organs and systems. It was taught as follows: bitter nourishes the heart and small intestines; sweet nourishes the brain, spleen, pancreas and stomach; pungent nourishes the lungs, sinus and large intestine; salt nourishes the kidneys and bladder; and sour nourishes the liver and gall bladder.

These five qualities are said to physically represent the five patterns of energy that form all matter into one of five shapes: the square, the five pointed star, the circle, the spiral and the equidistant cross. All matter animate or inanimate, forms itself into one or more of these five shapes. These five shapes of the five energies that exist in space form the five organs of sense in humans (sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste).

CABALA Juice is designed with these principles in mind. For example apples are ‘sweet’ and when cut in half the core is the shape of a ‘pointed star’. Beetroot is 'pungent' and has the signatures of the 'circle'.

In addition the individual Fruit & Vegetable Effects of CABALA Include:

Carrot - a great liver cleanser, increases vitality and vigor, richest source of provitamin A, high in beta-carotene and anti-oxidants, rich in carotenoids to help regulate blood sugar and help reduce the risk of heart disease, assists in releasing excess cholesterol in the body, contains complex carbohydrates that gives the body energy, excellent source of carotenoids which also promote healthy eyes and good vision.

Apple -high in soluble fibre which soothes digestion, natural sugar that produces acids to stimulate digestion great for cleansing the subcutaneous tissues where your body stores fat, packed with fiber that lowers cholesterol, terrific source of pectin which helps remove toxins from the intestines.

Beetroot - cleanse the liver and gall bladder, enhances blood circulation and excellent source of Vitamin C to boost your immune system.

Lemon – a potent detoxifier, excellent liver cleanser, kills intestinal parasites such as round-worms, dissolves gallstones, stimulates digestive juices. It’s also beneficial in removing poisons in the form of old drug residues from the body.

The colours of the ingredients in CABALA also has sigifcance as the “art of healing is using living colours” Don Tolaman

Red is the colour of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power determination as well as passion, desire and love.
Benefits of Red: Confidence - a sense of control and mastery of ones body, behavior and world; the sense that you are more likely than not to succeed at what you undertake and that others will be helpful.
Important nutritional constituents – lycopene and anthocyanins

Yellow is the colour of sunshine. It’s associated with joy, happiness, intellect and energy. Yellow produces a warming effect, arouses cheerfulness, stimulates mental activity and generate muscle activity.
Benefits of yellow: Intentionality – the wish and capacity to have an impact and to act upon this with persistence. This is related to a sense of competence of being effective

Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement and stimulation.
Benefits of orange: Curiosity – the sense that finding out about things is positive and leads to pleasure.
Important nutritional constituents of yellow and orange – 700 + carotenoids (beta-carotene is but one). Bioflavonoids and Vitamin C

Green is the colour of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness and fertility. Green has a strong emotional correspondence with safety.
Benefit of green: Self control – the ability to modulate and control ones’ own actions, a sense of inner control.
Important nutritional constituents – Lutein and Indoles

Sounds like some very good advise for someone who bought a juicer months ago and just looks at it suspiciously as it sits in its unopened box.  I've begun to think it could be an evil device........nah...just lazy...   : P

Just thought of a few more.

7. Use a straw.  A mouthful of foam can be tough to choke down.
8. Wipe out the inside of your glass when you are finished.  That dried stuff that clings to the sides doesn't come off in the dishwasher.
9.  Orange + green = brown.  So if you make carrot/kiwi juice, it looks poopy.
10. If your pineapple smells like beer, it is no good.  Duh.

Here are a few things I've learned about fresh juice.  I know you didn't ask, but I'm telling you anyway.

1.  Beets and celery make juice taste earthy, like dirt.
2.  Do not try to juice bananas, papaya, mango, or peaches.  They plug the screen and make a big mess.  Put those in the blender instead.
3.  Fruits will yeild more juice if you use them at room temperature.
4.  Fresh pineapple has enzymes that are killed by pasturization.  Works great for the bloating, but those enzymes can be a bit of a shock to your system.
5.  Add a splash of bottled juice to the mix, like Acai or Pom.
6.  Juice what is in season and on sale.  Much easier on the wallet.

Cheers!

This sounds like the sort of treatment Naomi Judd used to cure her Hepatitis C.  It was prescribed by Dr. Andrew Weil.

Word of caution - don't make any big plans.  You should probably start with less than 2 liters a day.  Fresh whole raw foods do a body good, but it can cause some gastric distress.  Maybe start with 2 apples and 2 carrots and see how it sits.
Also, if you are juicing 4 pounds of carrots a day, your palms and face might turn orange.  No joke.  Remember how babies turn orange around their nose when you feed them too may strained carrots.

I've been juicing for several years, just not 2 liters a day!  Maybe 2 a week.

My son in law went to Uni for 5 years then went on to get his Bachelors in Dietetics.
I swear by what he says and tells me to take in regards to vitamins.
He's also a firm believer in eating the 'right' foods for the blood type you are.

Its worth looking into.......
As for the Cabala juice, I have just started it and will let you know what I think of it in a few weeks time.
