In August, routine blood work showed my thyroid to be low functioning. A sonogram & additional blood work, provided normal results. It is now March and once again routine blood work results show my thyroid to be low functioning. A second sonogram, normal. Waiting on results of ad dictionary blood tests at this point. The first time I didn't think a whole lot about it, but this time I'm beginning to do some research. Some of my initial research shows that many of the things I have been experiencing may very well be indicative of thyroid issues when taken as a whole. Those issues include depression, increasing fatigue, adult onset asthma, elevated triglycerides (hyperlipidemia) and others. I simply thought my body was aging, especially since I'm menopausal and have not had a monthly cycle in 2 years. Oh, I was diagnosed about 15 years ago with PMDD; always had PMS but it became untenable.
I currently do not have the results of my bloodwork. But I do have a question, is there any correlation, anecdotal or other, between the development of hypothyroidism and the removal of a thyroglossal duct cyst as an adilescent?
Thanks for your comments.
