Lethargy, weight gain

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis two years ago.  I am 44 years old, had a complete hysterectomy at 35.  I currently take .5 mg of Estradiol and 88 mcg of Synthroid daily.  I am active, pay attention to what I eat and am on my feet all day, as I am a licensed massage therapist.  I don't understand why I cannot lose weight.  I feel lethargic and don't have the get up and go as I should.  Is there a light at the end of the tunnel??

Thank you for any feedback you can offer.

I'm 5'6 and 108 pounds.  I have autoimmune thyroid disease.  I started with Grave's, but then I developed Hashimoto's--basically--I have autoimmune thyroid disease.  I was taking 100mcg of synthroid, but I am now on 88mcg (fluctuating immune response alters my medication levels).  I don't really have any problems with my weight.  You might have to check on your diet and make sure that you are eating in a healthy way.  Every now and then I have to adjust mine as we can all forget to monitor our intake.  I wish you the best!

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's  8 months ago and began treatment with synthroid. I lost 17lbs in 2 months, but I had to work veyr hard for it, I ate vegetables, chicken, tuna, fruit and minimal carbs like bread, rice and pasta. I also ate very small meals throuh the whole day. I would say my total caloric intake was about 1100 a day, which is low for the majority of people. I also worked out for 1.5 hours 4 days a week...

The calorie cutting was hard, but I could function just fine on that amount, it depends on your lifestyle and needs.

The first thing you need to do is get your morning TSHaround 1.0.  Ths may help with any weight issues and fatigue. If after 6 months of having a MORNING TSH ariund 1.0 you still do not see improvements then it may be time to either add Cytomel or switch to Armour or Thyrolar.

Make sure all testing is done first thing in the morning each and every time. You might want to also ask for a free t4 and free t3, along with the TSH. If the free t3 shows up on the low side, then T3 is most likely needed
