Low hormones at 20?

I am a 20 year old male, about 6'2". I have experienced moderate fatigue, low sex drive, a slow metabolism, and mood swings. I was wondering what the possible causes of these types of symptoms could be, if there is actually anything wrong?
I spend the majority of the day sleepy to exhausted
I have trouble focusing
I have major mood-swings
I have low self-esteem
I have trouble growing/maintaining muscle mass
I eat less than 2500 calories a day, and live a very pedestrian life style (i don't have a car, walking everywhere), and yet i have been gaining weight
I also have a low sex drive
I also seem to have a predisposition to ligament injury and chronic disease (frequently have knee pain w/o having recieved a satisfactory diagnosis from 3 knee/joint/arthritis specialists, and have recurring tennis elbow in both arms brought on with very little use)

Any ideas?

I agree with LazyMoose -- get your thyroid checked, but don't stop with just the FT3, FT4 and TSH; insist on getting tested for antibodies to confirm/rule out Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and I'd even recommend that you take it a step further and ask for a thyroid ultra sound, to check for swelling, inflammation, nodules, etc.

Oh, by the way ---- don't even think about letting the doctor send you off to the lab with an order for "only" TSH.  TSH is a pituitary hormone and is not indicative of what the thyroid is actually doing.  Insist on Free T3 and Free T4, which are the biologically active thyroid hormones, to go along with it.

Good luck

Dont delay. Get Free T3 , Free T4 and TSH tested today.

Thyroid is a likely possibility. I was not tested at your age since I am a male too. We get Hashimoto also.

(you cant just go by tsh - docs are way wrong on this - read up.
