Hello all, please let me know if I as suppose to add on to my original post or create a new (as I have did). New labs
T3- .81 ranges: 76-181
T4-1.0 ranges: 0.8-1.8
TSH-1.55 ranges: 0.47-5.5
these were taken 10/23/15 before my levo/synthroid was upped to .75
THe Free T4 test shows you to be only at 20% of the range. Where most people seem to need it to be about 50% or a bit higher.
Free T3 test is what you should DEMAND to be tested for. Most people find they need this to be in the upper half to even closer to the upper 1/3 (66.7%) of the range to feel well. Remember that your body ONLY uses the free T3 hormone at the cellular level. This is why it is so important to test for the actual hormone your body ultimately uses.
However as a comparison, You Total T3 is at an absolute dismal 4.7% of the range. That is right 4.7. Not forty seven. But 4.7. While not conclusive it would make sense that if your TOTAL T3 is so low, your Free T3 is also likely to be very low.
So a bump in your medication was the right move directionally.
What I would recommend is to keep getting tested about every 6 to 8 weeks (as it takes 6 weeks to stabilize the Free T4 levels in your blood) And if you continue to be symptomatic to keep bumping up the dosage until you become symptom free, or you reach about 50% of the range. Keep an eye on the Free T3 levels and the responses to each increase in medication.
Ideally, when you get to about 50% of the FT4 range, your FT3 levels should be between 50% and 67% of the range. If they remain below 50%, it is then to add T3 medication.
The FT3 range should be more than the FT4 range. But until you get enough T4, you can't really make a determination if your body is converting the T4 into T3 properly. This is why I recommended that you continue to work your FT4 levels higher and see the FT3 response.
